Friday, November 13th 11am-12:30pm PST
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
· Define the principles and applications of CBT and ACT.
· Identify negative thinking loops and their connection to emotions and behavior.
· Demonstrate strategies to help clients “re-parent” or reframe destructive self-talk.
· Apply ACT processes (acceptance, present moment awareness, values, committed action) to increase client resilience
and self-compassion.
· Recognize barriers such as blame, unforgiveness, guilt, and shame, and explore strategies to move clients forward.
· Integrate both CBT and ACT approaches into facilitation practice with diverse populations, including those impacted by
trauma and violence.
This professional development workshop is a live, instructor-led virtual training that equips professionals and practitioners with tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to strengthen client engagement and support positive behavioral change. Participants will explore the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while learning strategies to increase psychological flexibility, acceptance, and self-awareness. Through discussion, reflection, and interactive exercises, the training highlights how CBT and ACT can be integrated into practice with individuals impacted by trauma, maladaptive thinking patterns, and cycles of violence. This workshop is particularly beneficial for professionals working with individuals impacted by trauma, domestic violence, or high-conflict environments.
The workshop emphasizes both cognitive reframing (CBT) and acceptance/commitment processes (ACT), helping clients move beyond resistance, shame, and maladaptive coping toward healthier, values-driven choices.
